Overview
Divemaster certification is the first step in PADI professionals path. It precedes the PADI Assistant Instructor and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certifications where you become a fully qualified and licensed Scuba Diving Instructor.
Simply put, this is how you turn your passion into a job!The Dive Master builds on the skills and knowledge you’ve already learned from your previous courses and hones your skills to a professional level, focusing on building your leadership skills to a point where you can organize and lead diving trips and even assist in training learning divers alongside instructors.
The Dive Master is a ten-day course, giving you enough time to get through the five main segments that you study, through independent reading and hands-on practical sessions, before your assessments. The five segments that you’ll be assessed on are Knowledge Development, Water Skills, Practical Application, Practical Assessment, and Professionalism.
Certification Requirements:
Divemaster candidates meet course performance requirements and:
- Complete knowledge development segments including Knowledge Reviews in the PADIDivemaster Manual or through Divemaster eLearning, and pass the Divemaster Final Exam.
- Create an Emergency Assistance Plan for a designated dive site.
- Complete water skills exercises.• Complete a diver rescue assessment.
- Complete the dive skills workshop and assessment.
- Complete practical application skills.
- Complete divemaster-conducted programs workshops.
- Complete practical assessments.
- Meet the professionalism criteria.
Diver Prerequisites:
- Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver.
- 18 years old.
- Logged 40 scuba dives.
- Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training within 24 months.
- Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months.
